And I’m Back!

It’s been a long 29 days and Europe and all I can say is that the trip was FANTASTIC!

I had tons of fun with the girlfriend (despite all the arguments that came with the trip), and this trip was definitely good for the relationship.

Since I arrived, I’ve been too busy catching up on shows and sorting out my photos (while dreaming of an iPhone 3G). Let me get those out of the way before I start blogging again.

It’s good to be back although I miss the traveling and the sightseeing. I’ve been away from internet life for more than a month now ever since exam period started in April. It didn’t help being away from home and staying in hostels around Europe. Fortunately, I was able to use the net once in a while which I will write about soon.

Stay tuned for photos from the trip! :)

An American Attempts to Sing a Filipino Song

When Marie Digby or David Choi sing covers from other artists, both do a great job at it. When an random guy from the U.S. sings a tagalog song from a band in the Philippines what should you expect? Play the video below to find out.

The original was done by Parokya Ni Edgar and the title of the song is “Buloy“.

Ms. South Carolina Meets Ms. Philippines

I’m proud to be Filipino but this is something that needs to be erased from the record books forever. Ms. South Carolina did it in Miss Teen USA 2007 and this time around Janina San Miguel does it for Miss Philippines. Expect this video to stay viral at least for the next couple of weeks.

All the best to her when she represents the Philippines in Miss World 2008.

I’m Off to Casino and Shopping Land!

Instead of bringing my DSLR this time, I’m going to be using a video camera inspired by Cloverfield. hah!

Hong Kong and Macau, here we come!!!

Lessig Does it Again

I’m a big fan of this guy.

Once again, he impresses us with his sheer genius and style with his thoughts on the US primaries. I like the the quality of his arguments and how he slowly builds them up logically. Take your time and listen to The Lessig in the videos below.

“20 or so minutes on why I am 4Barack”

“10 minutes on whether Hillary can win”

In tomorrow’s social media class, our professor will be showing everyone Larry’s presentation on creativity and the law with relation to the Read/Write web from TED. I can’t wait to see everyone’s faces during and after the presentation as they watch in awe. I’ve done this kind of presentation twice already in the past 2 years and 1 worked out better than the other. Last term, someone told me that a group or two already did it during advertising class. I’m sure, after tomorrow’s class, more SMU students will be presenting using The Lessig Style.

It ain’t easy. But once the students pull it off, they will have a presentation that will stick.

Thank you Mr. Lessig for being an inspiration.

Romance or Sex?

I came across this article from Time a month ago titled, The Science of Romance: Why We Flirt?. Interesting read.

I was browsing through Digg and saw a similar title, Why We Flirt: The Science of Sex, but this time it was from DivineCaroline. (I haven’t read this one.)

Both sources target different readers and the way they titled their articles just intrigues me. Both articles probably draw from the same study, I’m just not sure which is a more effective use of headline knowing who their respective audience are.

What do you think?

It’s the Little Things That Matter

I went to Botak Jones three times already in this month alone. The food’s good, but the reason why I’ve been going back to eat there is the little things they do to make their customers smile.

Last night, they surprised us with nachos and salsa dip. It wasn’t the best nachos, but it’s the thought that counts.

Lost and Smallville are back!

With the writers still on strike, it’s good to see some of the shows coming back. Both Smallville and Lost are affected by the strike and it’s going to be interesting to see how both these shows play out as the season goes.

It’s time to bring reality shows back.

Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008!

It has been a long 2007.

A lot of ups and downs but nothing seriously bad for me to want to forget the year that is just about to end.

It’s certainly going to be an eventful 2008.

  • Last term of my university life.
  • Euro-tripping with the girl.
  • Job hunting.
  • Graduation.
  • Off to the working world.

I can’t wait.

I’ll be spending Christmas and New Year in Macau and Hong Kong this year. I’ll be spending time with my relatives, but my significant other won’t be with us this time. :( It’s going to be tough, but we’ll make it work as always.

Christmas dinner tonight at my place with the girlfriends. Turkey, here I come!

Busy, Busy, Busy

School is keeping me busy and I am getting burned out. I haven’t been getting enough sleep and play time because work is piling up. Haven’t touched my blog for the longest of time and my “temp” bookmarks folder is on its way to reach a megabyte in size. Anyway, here is what’s making me sleep for only 4 hours a day:

  • Projects
  • Reports
  • Presentations
  • Career Talks
  • Readings
  • TV Shows - well, not really. I haven’t found time to finish the sixth season of 24. Hmm..
  • Facebook
  • Basketball Practice

and the list goes on. Soon I’ll be planning for my euro trip with the girl and start applying for jobs as well. I thought my last year in college would be relaxed, but it’s turning out to be the extreme opposite.

I need a vacation.
