Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008!

It has been a long 2007.

A lot of ups and downs but nothing seriously bad for me to want to forget the year that is just about to end.

It’s certainly going to be an eventful 2008.

  • Last term of my university life.
  • Euro-tripping with the girl.
  • Job hunting.
  • Graduation.
  • Off to the working world.

I can’t wait.

I’ll be spending Christmas and New Year in Macau and Hong Kong this year. I’ll be spending time with my relatives, but my significant other won’t be with us this time. :( It’s going to be tough, but we’ll make it work as always.

Christmas dinner tonight at my place with the girlfriends. Turkey, here I come!

Another Tech Bubble?

Whopper Lovers Get Punked

Check out the latest viral campaign from Burger King:

It’s pretty good, eh? If I had a chance to take advertising class again, I’d choose this ad for Show & Tell. What I like about it is the candidness of their customers when they found out about the disappearance of BK’s iconic burger. It shows the impact BK has on its customers. Check out their reactions towards the end of the clip, which adds a very nice emotional touch to the ad.

I originally saw this YouTube video on Mitch Joel’s blog Six Pixels of Separation, and one of his comments on the blog post regarding this video was the time spent on all these social media that’s now available online. (I just spent an hour earlier reading about Twitter and its promise as a marketing tool.) People now are spending a lot time online visiting blogs, social networks, watching videos on YouTube, etc. I wonder how they manage to get other things done.

I’m still halfway reading through my RSS feeds. I think I’d be spending the whole afternoon today just reading all those feeds.

It’s time to start filtering the Must-Reads from the It-Can-Waits.

My Dream Office

I initially thought that the Googleplex was stunning. But after seeing all the other smaller tech companies’ offices, I found out that there are cooler ones out there. Check out the office of Songbird:

Songbird's Office

Looks really cool. That’s the kind of environment that I want to work in. (Although I doubt that they also provide free gourmet food. hah!)

I originally read this post on John Chow’s blog, but the rest of the offices can be found in this entry of BandwidthBlog.

It’s my last day here at Yahoo!. Need to start applying for jobs soon.

!oohaY

It’s the third day of work here at the !oohaY office. We’ve been search testing here to provide more relevant results to our countrymen back home. We still haven’t reach our benchmark as of yesterday before we go into live testing. Hopefully, after today’s evaluation we get to start use real data.

The office is pretty nice I must say. The lobby is huge, white and minimalist a la Ogilvy Centre. The environment is very relaxed which is an ideal workplace for me. I’ll post pictures (if we are allowed to) when we finish next Friday.

As for our school-project-turned-startup, the meeting yesterday went very well. New features were discussed and the energy level was pretty amazing. Everyone was on the same page. Our homework for the next meeting is to come up with 5 features each and from there we’ll be able to scope the project appropriately and come up with a timeline.

Anyways, back to search testing. Toodles!
